Benefits and drawbacks of nonprofit collaboration

Nonprofit leaders can find out what is working in nonprofit collaboration and what is not, at a conference sponsored by Grand Valley's Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership.

The conference will be held Friday, December 4, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in Loosemore Auditorium of the DeVos Center, 401 W. Fulton St., on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus.

The program will assist nonprofit leaders considering the advantages and disadvantages of a range of collaborative relationships. Guest speakers include Peter Groff, director for the U.S. Department of Education’s Center for Faith-based and Community Partnerships, and Karen Eason from the Council of Michigan Foundations.

Conference highlights include:
• Results of national and state research on nonprofit collaborations
• Research findings from The 2009 Collaboration Prize - A National Study of Nonprofit Collaboration
• Case examples of West Michigan nonprofit collaborations in action
• A special panel of local examples of collaborations

There is a registration fee of $95 for the first participant from an organization and a fee of $45 per person for all others from the same organization. Registration is online at www.collaborationconference.eventbrite.com
